Since 2012, Oakridge has established contacts with Japanese partners, both in France and Japan, to explore cooperation opportunities, particularly regarding nuclear decommissioning solutions.
In August 2014, the company took a significant step by submitting a proposal to IRID, the Japanese organization responsible for decommissioning research and development. This application responded to an international call for projects launched by the institution.
Oakridge's proposal presented an innovative approach to fuel debris extraction, a critical area for decommissioning operations at damaged nuclear installations.
